Shaler Area Elementary School School-Wide Positive Behavior Program

SAES Positive Behavior Support Plan: Focus on the positive as opposed to the negative… Positive Reinforcements!

School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports:
• We want students to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and READY in all areas of the school
• We will be identifying areas of need and running “campaigns” for targeted areas throughout the year
• “Give me Five” symbol will be used universally to gather students
• Progressive discipline model will still be used
• We acknowledge positive behavior by assigning points with the PBIS Rewards app. Students can use their
points in the app for the school PBIS store and classroom teachers’ PBIS store.

We strive to create a safe and effective environment for all students at SAES. Our School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Program (SWPBS) enables us to achieve this goal. It is a program designed to teach all students to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and READY in all areas of the school.

The “Give Me Five, Titan Pride” symbol will be used throughout the school setting. We have developed important expectations to foster a positive learning environment. We have developed important rules relating to this theme. You will notice these rules posted throughout Shaler Area Elementary School.

We will be teaching and modeling these expectations in all areas: classroom, café, playground, auditorium, restroom and on the school bus.

Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior

SWPBS: Also emphasizes that students understand the consequences which will be incurred if they exhibit inappropriate behavior. Our SWPBS program is aligned with our District policies concerning inappropriate behavior. Our goal is to intervene before a student’s inappropriate behavior becomes increasingly problematic.

SAES House System

Shaler Area Elementary School is proud to introduce our new House System. We will be grouping students and staff into twelve different houses, each with its own theme, motto, and identity. Our houses will meet once a month. Students will have opportunities to earn points and recognition through positive behavior.
