In January, three Shaler Area Middle School students participated in the Geography Bee and History Bee Regional Final hosted by International Academic Competitions at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit in Homestead. All three students, Luke Kohler, Oliver Mateskovich, and Harrison Pingley competed in the Geography Bee, with Oliver placing 4th in the competition among all seventh-grade participants. Harrison also competed in the History Bee and won First Place among all seventh-grade participants.
Since Oliver and Harrison placed, both have qualified to compete in the national championship for History and Geography held in Orlando, Florida later this year in May and look forward to attending the competition.
Congratulations, Harrison, Luke, and Oliver!
