Ms. Franc’s third-grade class had a special visitor! Martin Graf, an experienced shark behavioral specialist, diver, and international speaker, joined our students to share his fascinating presentation, “Why Sharks Aren’t as Dangerous as We Think.”

Originally from Switzerland, Martin spent 18 years as a professional cyclist before discovering his passion for diving and sharks. With more than 25 years of experience and over 7,000 hours observing sharks, including great white sharks, Martin has dedicated much of his life to studying their behavior and helping others better understand these often-misunderstood animals.

Our third graders had the incredible opportunity to learn from someone who has worked alongside marine biologists and shares his knowledge with audiences around the world. Martin helped students look beyond the scary reputation of sharks and how these incredible animals are very different from the way they’re often portrayed in the media.

What an unforgettable opportunity to bring real-world science and ocean conservation into our classroom!
