The Shaler Area School Board has voted to renew Dr. Brian Brown’s contract as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2032. The Board approved the renewal at its September 17 meeting.
The renewal comes at an important moment for the District. Dr. Brown has played a central role in advancing Shaler Area’s academic and instructional priorities, including implementation of the District’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. He has also helped guide the District through a period of significant change, including a grade-level reconfiguration, new curriculum initiatives, expanded professional learning for staff, and ongoing work to strengthen teaching and learning across all schools.
“The work of a school district is truly a team effort, and Brian’s perspective, experience, and commitment to Shaler Area have been invaluable to me and to our entire leadership team,” said Dr. Bryan O’Black, Superintendent of Schools. “His continued service provides important leadership continuity as we move forward with the next chapter of our District and our shared commitment to Engage, Empower, and Excel.”
District leaders note that Dr. Brown’s continued service will help sustain momentum on Shaler Area’s strategic priorities in the years ahead, keeping the focus on meaningful outcomes for students, staff, and the community.
