Dear Shaler Area Families,
Each week in Shaler Area brings new reasons to be proud of our students, staff, and community. As we reflect on the past several days, I am excited to share five stories that illustrate the creativity, hard work, and Titan pride that define our district.
One of the most rewarding parts of my role has been the opportunity to meet with our incredible students and learn more about their experiences in our schools. Hearing first hand about their passions, challenges, and aspirations reminds me daily of why we are all here – to support and uplift our students in every way possible. Their insights, creativity, and perspectives continue to shape our efforts to create an enriching and inclusive environment for all
These moments are reminders of how, together, we continue to build opportunities that Engage, Empower, and Excel for every learner.
Student Spotlight: Jayden Conrad and Luke Glaser
Congratulations to Shaler Area football players Jayden Conrad and Luke Glaser, who were recognized with the OWTAE Play of the Week for their standout performance against Central Valley. Conrad delivered a deep, well-timed pass downfield, and Glaser secured the reception for a touchdown while falling in the end zone, capping off the Titans’ Week 3 win. Their teamwork and execution under pressure reflect the dedication and Titan Pride that define Shaler Area athletics.
Staff Spotlight: Lauren Briggs
Lauren Briggs has shown leadership and enthusiasm to her work at Shaler Area Middle School. She provides creative lessons, is a wonderful team player, and brings incredible energy to the building. Thank you, Ms. Briggs for engaging and empowering our students!
Honoring Our First Responders
Last week, Shaler Area was proud to recognize the dedicated first responders who serve and protect our communities during the Titans’ football game against Central Valley. First responders from both communities were invited to join us on the field for a special pregame recognition, including participating in the pregame handshake line and serving as honorary captains. It was a meaningful opportunity for our students, staff, families, and fans to show their appreciation for the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders who answer the call each day. We are grateful for their service, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.
Family Engagement Night – Supporting Student Wellness
Shaler Area School District will host a Family Engagement Night on September 24 from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Marzolf Primary School. Presented in partnership with Wesley Family Services, this interactive workshop is designed for K–4 parents and caregivers and will provide practical strategies to support children’s wellness at home and at school. Topics will include understanding big emotions and behavior, developing emotional awareness and coping skills, strengthening parent-child connections, responding to challenging behaviors, and creating supportive and resilient home environments. This event reflects our continued commitment to supporting the whole child and strengthening partnerships with our families.
Celebrating our AP Scholars
Congratulations to 51 Shaler Area High School students who earned AP Scholar recognition from the College Board based on their outstanding performance on Advanced Placement exams. This year, 15 students were named AP Scholars, 13 earned AP Scholar with Honor, and 23 achieved AP Scholar with Distinction. These accomplishments reflect the hard work and academic ambition of our students, as well as the dedication of the educators who support and challenge them. We are incredibly proud to celebrate these Titans and their commitment to academic excellence! Click here to read more.
