The Shaler Area School District and Sarah Heinz House are pleased to announce a new partnership that will provide a long-term home for the Shaler Area High School Varsity Swimming Program beginning with the 2027-2028 swim season.
At the May 20 meeting of the Board of School Directors, an agreement was approved allowing Shaler Area School District to lease use of the swimming pool, locker rooms, weight room, and storage space at Sarah Heinz House during mutually agreed-upon times throughout the swim season.
“This partnership reflects our continued commitment to providing outstanding opportunities and experiences for our student-athletes,” said Dr. Bryan O’Black, Superintendent of Schools. “We are grateful to Sarah Heinz House for collaborating with us to ensure our swim program continues to thrive in a high-quality environment that supports student success, teamwork, and wellness.”
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Shaler Area schools to the ‘House,” said Demeshia Seals, CEO of the Sarah Heinz House. “The excitement we feel as we look forward to embarking on this extraordinary partnership together is only surpassed by the possibilities for collaboration and growth ahead… truly inspiring. We can’t wait to see the positive impact we will create together.”
“The Sarah Heinz House is a first-class facility, and we are incredibly thankful to the leadership team for opening their doors to our student-athletes,” said Stephanie Strauss, Athletic Director at Shaler Area School District. “Access to this pool will allow our swimming program to continue competing at a high level within the WPIAL while also providing our student-athletes with an outstanding environment to train, improve, and achieve new personal bests.”
The agreement establishes a collaborative partnership focused on supporting students while maximizing community resources and access to quality athletic facilities.
