Shaler Area Flag Football Team Wins First-Ever WPIAL Championship in Inaugural Season

The Shaler Area School District is proud to announce that the Shaler Area Flag Football Team has captured the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championship, defeating Plum 34-0 in a dominant and decisive victory. The win marks a historic milestone for the program — a championship title in its very first season of competition.

This extraordinary achievement stands as a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and talent of the student-athletes who built something special from the ground up. From the opening game through the final whistle of a shutout championship performance, the team represented Shaler Area with pride, sportsmanship, and excellence both on and off the field.

At the helm of this historic program is Head Coach Robby Heinrich. Coach Heinrich’s vision and commitment to developing this team from its foundation guided the Titans to a championship season that the entire community can celebrate.

Dr. Bryan O’Black, Superintendent of Schools, reflected on the achievement and the broader community effort that supported it: “Thank you to everyone throughout our schools and community who supported this team along the way. This is truly a proud moment for Shaler Area.”

The Shaler Area School District congratulates our student-athletes, coaches, and all of the families and supporters who cheered this team on throughout the season. Moments like these remind us of the powerful lessons that athletics instill in young people — teamwork, resilience, and the reward that comes from working toward a shared goal.
