Take 5 with Dr. O'Black

April 24, 2026

As we wrap up the week of April 20, we continue to see strong momentum across the Shaler Area School District. Our classrooms have remained vibrant and engaging, with students and staff fully immersed in meaningful learning experiences that reflect growth, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence.

This week once again highlighted the many ways our students shine—through academic achievement, performances, athletic competitions, and service to others. Across all of our schools, there is a clear sense of pride in the work being done each day. Our students continue to challenge themselves, support one another, and take ownership of their learning in ways that are both inspiring and impactful.

As we move deeper into the spring season, we also recognize that this is a busy and important time in the school year. From end-of-year projects and assessments to concerts, events, and celebrations, there are many opportunities ahead for our students to showcase their talents and accomplishments. We remain committed to supporting every student as they finish the year strong.

Finally I invite you to join the Friends of the Shaler North Hills Library who will be hosting the annual spring used book sale at the library this weekend. Shop for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, puzzles, and games for adults and teens. Join the Friends of the Library to attend the members preview night tonight. Find more details on the sale and other upcoming library events on the library’s calendar.
