6th-Grade Girls Basketball Team Celebrates 100 Wins

The 6th-grade girls basketball team has officially surpassed the 100-win mark during their time with the Shaler Area Elementary Basketball Association. It’s been an exciting milestone for this group, and we’re incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication they’ve shown over the years.

Back when these girls were just second graders, something special was already happening on the court. Their competitiveness, chemistry, and natural feel for the game stood out immediately. Even at a young age, they played with confidence, energy, and a love for the game that separated them from the rest.

At the time, the Shaler Area Elementary basketball program only offered an in-house option for third-grade girls. But it quickly became clear that this group was ready for more. Recognizing their potential, Coaches Gerrmar and Troy helped take the next step by forming a third-grade travel team the following season. It was a move that raised the bar and created an opportunity for these players to challenge themselves at a higher level. As the program continued to grow, Coach Josh joined the staff, helping build the strong foundation of accountability, skill development, and belief that still defines this team today.

That first year wasn’t easy. With few third-grade travel teams in existence, the girls often found themselves competing against fourth graders. Instead of backing down, they rose to the challenge. The result was an incredibly successful season that set the tone for everything that followed.

From that moment on, this team never looked back.

Now, as sixth graders, these girls are celebrating over 100 wins in just a few short seasons. This milestone is a testament to their hard work, resilience, teamwork, and love for the game. Their journey has been shaped by countless hours in the gym, trust in one another, and a shared commitment to getting better every single season.

Along the way, the Lady Titans have collected numerous medals and championship finishes, earning a spot in States each year. Competing in the top bracket, they have finished 3rd and 5th in the state, making strong, competitive runs at the title every time. These accomplishments reflect not only the talent on the roster, but the consistency, discipline, and mental toughness this team brings to every season.

Congratulations to this outstanding group of athletes:
Arianna Ballard, Victoria Piekarski, Molly Dabbs, Amelia Wojcik, Karissa Poliziani, Lana Rodgers, Mia Sasson, and Milani Akar.
Each player has contributed in her own way, and together they have built something truly special.

A heartfelt thank you to Coaches Gerrmar Ballard, Troy Piekarski, and Joshua Dabbs for guiding, challenging, and supporting these girls from the beginning, helping shape not only strong basketball players, but confident and dedicated young athletes.
While their time as elementary-aged basketball players is sprinting toward the finish line, this team remains focused on finishing the season strong and setting their sights on what’s next in middle school.

Congratulations, Lady Titans. Your dedication, sportsmanship, and heart make Shaler Area incredibly proud – and this story is far from over.
