Shaler Area High School students and staff recently demonstrated what it truly means to be a TITAN by taking part in the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Cool Schools fundraiser. Competing under the spirited team name The Shaler Area TITAN-ics, 27 brave jumpers—including students, teachers, and even Shaler’s School Resource Officer—came together for a great cause.
The Cool Schools initiative supports Special Olympics Pennsylvania, which provides year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities at no cost to athletes or their families. By participating, schools not only raise funds but also promote inclusion, leadership, and school unity.
The Shaler Area TITAN-ics made a big splash—raising an impressive $1,890 to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania athletes. The team’s success was powered by strong community support and outstanding individual efforts. This year’s top fundraisers included Jack Pauli, Kevin Jansen, Ashleigh Hansel, and Officer Wise, whose dedication and outreach helped propel the team toward its goal.
In addition to supporting athletes across Pennsylvania, a portion of the funds raised comes back to Shaler Area High School to directly support the Shaler Area Unified Bocce Team. These funds help provide equipment, uniforms, competition opportunities, and program support—ensuring that Unified athletes and partners continue to experience the teamwork, leadership, and sense of belonging that Unified sports foster.
From students to faculty to law enforcement, the event showcased the strength of the Shaler Area community. Participants stepped outside their comfort zones—quite literally—to demonstrate their commitment to inclusion and support for athletes both statewide and right here at home.
The TITAN-ics’ efforts reflect Shaler Area High School’s continued commitment to leadership, service, and building a culture where everyone belongs. Congratulations to all 27 jumpers for making a difference and proudly representing Shaler Area in support of Special Olympics Pennsylvania.
Go Titans!
