On Wednesday, February 4th, kindergarteners at Burchfield Primary learned the power of play as they participated in Global School Play Day. Burchfield teacher Kristine Bork explains, “Play is a crucial part of how young children learn to foster cognitive problem-solving skills and express creativity. It is a natural and engaging way for children to practice cooperation and build confidence with their peers.”

The day was a huge success filled with a lot of learning and fun! The morning integrated structured team building activities and learning through play. In the afternoon, the students enjoyed unstructured play time with items in the classroom or toys they may have brought from home. Burchfield hopes to make this an annual tradition!
