Shaler Area is proud to announce that Mickey Moran has been named the Head Varsity Boys Wrestling Coach. A lifelong Titan and standout student-athlete, Coach Moran brings a deep connection to the community, an exceptional wrestling pedigree, and a passionate commitment to growing the Shaler Area wrestling program.
A 2004 graduate of Shaler Area High School, Moran wrestled for the Titans from childhood through graduation, following in the footsteps of his father, who also competed for the program. His accomplishments on the mat place him among Shaler’s elite: Moran was a four-time section champion at 160 pounds, a 2003 WPIAL champion, and the 2004 PIAA state runner-up. He finished his high school career with an impressive 144 victories before continuing his wrestling career at the University at Buffalo.
Since returning to the program in 2022, Moran has served as Assistant Head Coach for the varsity team. His leadership, technical expertise, and athlete-first approach have made a significant impact on the development of the program and its student-athletes.
Coach Moran expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity. “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. It’s been a lifetime dream to come back and coach the program that gave so much to me. I’m very excited about the team we have and look forward to helping these young men achieve their goals in life and on the mat,” Moran shared.
