The Shaler Area High School National Honor Society has had an eventful and impactful February, filled with service, generosity, and community engagement. We are thrilled to share some of our recent accomplishments!
Our annual philanthropic initiative, Pennies for Patients, launched on February 3rd and ran throughout the week, with NHS members visiting first-period classrooms daily to collect donations for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Western PA. Thanks to the generosity of our students and staff, we raised an incredible $3,832! As a token of appreciation, the 7 top-performing classes enjoyed a celebratory breakfast in the cafeteria on February 13th. We ate Belgian waffles and yogurt parfaits with toppings, sausage, and fruit.
Special recognition goes to the top three contributing classes— Mr. Kepreos, Mrs. Donini, and Mr. Tim Taylor—each of which donated over $200. Mr. White and Mr. Leiden’s classes raised over $100 each and received a donut party in their classrooms.
