Most school mornings begin with a bus ride, a walk, or a spot in the drop-off line. For two brothers at Scott Primary School, one recent morning began on a fire truck.

The students were the latest winners of the Shaler Township Experience, which gave them the chance to arrive at school aboard a Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company truck. It was an entrance that turned an ordinary school day into one the brothers will be talking about for a long time, and one that brought plenty of smiles to those who watched them pull up.

The morning was made possible through the generosity of several community partners. Shaler Area School District extends its thanks to the Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company, to Officer Bonnette of the Shaler Township Police Department, and to Shaler Township Manager Judy Kording for giving their time to make the experience happen.

Moments like this one reflect the close relationship between Shaler Area schools and the community they serve. When local first responders and township leaders invest in our students, they help children see the people who care for their community up close, and they create the kind of memories that stay with a child well beyond the school year.

Congratulations to our two Scott Primary students on a truly memorable ride, and thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.
