What a fantastic week of learning, creating, designing, testing, and exploring at Titan STEM Camp 2026!
Each morning, our campers participated in hands-on STEM experiences led by our talented Shaler Area teachers. Students explored science, technology, engineering, and math through engaging activities that challenged them to think creatively, solve problems, and work collaboratively.
Campers became designers and chefs as they created personalized aprons, decorated delicious cookies, and learned how creativity and precision go hand-in-hand in the culinary world.
Engineering came to life as students designed, built, tested, and improved race cars, learning firsthand how forces, motion, and design choices impact performance. Through trial and error, campers discovered that some of the best learning happens when we test, revise, and try again!
In Chemistry Concoctions, students mixed, observed, experimented, and discovered the science behind exciting chemical reactions while learning important chemistry concepts through hands-on investigations.
Throughout the week, campers also explored coding Spheros, engineering challenges, design thinking, problem-solving activities, and creative STEM projects that encouraged curiosity and innovation.
Our afternoons were filled with incredible experiences from our community partners:
Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium shared their How to Be a Zookeeper program, giving students an exciting look into animal care, habitats, and conservation efforts.
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania challenged students to become wildlife engineers. Campers designed, tested, and improved eagle nests, making multiple iterations until their nests could successfully support three eggs and an eagle mother.
Carnegie Science Center connected learning to the PA STEELS Standards through engaging programs on Waves and Digging for Dinosaurs, helping students explore scientific concepts through hands-on discovery.
Fit 4 Boxing returned as a camp favorite, combining movement, fitness, and fun while teaching students the importance of healthy habits, perseverance, and confidence.
Attack Theatre inspired creativity, teamwork, and self-expression through interactive activities that encouraged students to move, collaborate, and think in new ways.
To conclude an amazing week, all campers gathered for Carnegie Science Center’s exciting Cold Case: Lessons in Chemistry presentation, where students used chemistry concepts to help solve a mystery and witnessed science come alive before their eyes.
Most importantly, thank you to our campers for bringing enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to try new things each day. The smiles, laughter, teamwork, and excitement we saw throughout the week reminded us exactly why STEM Camp is such a special tradition.
