Dear Shaler Area Families,
As we move through the heart of May, the energy and momentum across our schools remain strong. This time of year brings an exciting mix of celebrations, transitions, and reflection, and we are proud to see our students thriving through performances, athletic accomplishments, academic milestones, and end-of-year events across the district. Thank you for your continued partnership and support during these final weeks of the school year—your involvement and encouragement make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
The May edition of the Shshaaler Area Showcase is now available and features highlights from across the district, including student achievements, upcoming events, and the vibrant learning experiences taking place in our schools. In this week’s Take 5, we’ll also continue celebrating student success, special events, and the many positive moments that reflect the strength and pride of the Shaler Area community.
Shaler Area High School Mock Crash Notice
On Friday, May 22nd, Shaler Hampton EMS along with the Emergency Responder class at the high school will host a mock car crash to enable students to put their skills into practice through a unique, hands-on situation. Please do not be alarmed if you hear sirens and see activity at the high school. Paul Schweiger Way will be closed from approximately 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Shout-Out – Middle School Beautification Project
A big thank you to the Shaler Area Middle School students who worked tirelessly last week alongside the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to plant flowers and beautify the front of the school along Mt. Royal Boulevard. Your effort, teamwork, and pride in your school community made a visible difference—and created a welcoming space for all who pass by. Great job representing Titan pride through service and stewardship!
Save the Date: 143 Day of Kindness
Shaler Area School District is excited to announce our 5th Annual: Built on Kindness on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shaler Area Elementary School. Inspired by Fred Rogers and his meaningful use of “143” to say I Love You, this free, family-friendly event will bring together students, families, staff, and community partners for an evening centered on kindness, connection, and belonging. Guests will enjoy a lively Community Expo featuring organizations that support children and families, live performances by Shaler Area music ensembles, interactive activity stations, refreshments throughout the evening, and a high-energy closing performance by Josh and Gab. More than just an event, 143 Day of Kindness is a celebration of building a culture where kindness is practiced, celebrated, and sustained. We hope you will join us for this special evening celebrating the power of kindness in our community.
