On the evening of March 23, Reserve Primary School welcomed parents and caregivers for a Reading Engagement Night — a warm, practical gathering designed to equip families with the tools to make reading a richer part of home life. Elizabeth Van Horne Ries, Reading Specialist at Reserve Primary, shared, “Student success is dependent upon a strong relationship between educators and families. At Reserve, we take pride in this collaboration that allows us to guide our students to become confident and driven to learn and succeed. I am proud to be a member of the Reserve family and look forward to continuing to aid in providing opportunities to strengthen these connections that ensure our students reach their full potential.”
At the heart of the evening was a simple but powerful truth: reading together matters deeply. When families share stories, they build vocabulary, spark imagination, and strengthen the bonds between them. It sends children the message that reading is something to love, not just a school requirement. Events like this one equip families to carry that love of reading into their everyday lives—one page, and one shared moment, at a time.
