Shaler Area School District is proud to present the Fourth Annual 143 Day of Kindness Event on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Shaler Area Elementary School (700 Scott Avenue, Glenshaw, PA 15116). Doors open at 5:15 PM.
This joyful and completely FREE community event celebrates kindness in every form—with this year’s theme, “Kindness Grows in Shaler Area,” inspired by student leaders from the Shaler Area High School Sustainability Club.
Families will enjoy an evening packed with hands-on kindness-themed activities that help children learn to be kind to themselves, kind to others, and kind to their community. Featured activities include:
- Shrinky dinks made from recycled plastic
- Seed balls to plant flowers and spread joy
- Kindness rock painting
- Button making and custom yard signs
- A collaborative community mural
- Yoga and taekwondo for wellness and mindfulness
- Positive affirmation station
- And much, much more!
Guests are also encouraged to visit our Community Expo, where families can explore exciting summer and year-round programs and resources available to students.
New this year, we’re excited to welcome Cafe 118 from Shaler Area High School, who will be serving up a variety of refreshing beverages throughout the evening.
Attendees will be treated to live performances by Shaler Area music ensembles, including the High School Chamber Choir. The evening will conclude with a presentation by Shaler Area Middle School students honoring local upstanders in our school community—followed by a high-energy concert from the award-winning musical comedy duo, Josh and Gab, known for their fun-filled performances about kindness and anti-bullying.
Refreshments will be available, including pizza generously provided by Pasquale’s Pizzeria in Hampton, snacks from the District Parent Council, and Smiley Cookies donated by Jennifer Rausch, Compass Realty.
Free shuttle transportation will be provided with stops in Millvale, Etna, and Reserve (details to come).
Please note: This is a family event, and all students must be accompanied by a guardian at the venue and on the shuttle.
Join us for an evening of creativity, connection, and community spirit—you won’t want to miss this unforgettable celebration of kindness in action.
