This May, Shaler Township, in partnership with the Shaler North Hills Library, will welcome The Wall that Heals, a traveling three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that tours the country with a mobile Education Center. According to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, “Bringing The Wall home to communities throughout our country allows the souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist once more among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings. The traveling exhibit provides thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin. The main components of The Wall That Heals are The Wall replica and the mobile Education Center.”
Shaler Township will host The Wall That Heals from May 23–May 26, 2025, Shaler Area High School’s Anderson Field (1350 Anderson Road, 15209).
“We are honored to bring The Wall That Heals to Shaler Township as part our of 125th Anniversary Schedule of Events. We hope that all that visit will pause and honor those who did everything their country asked of them. We are hopeful that many visitors throughout Western Pennsylvania will take some time to reflect the meaning of The Wall That Heals while they visit over the Memorial Day weekend,” shared Judy Kording, Shaler Township Assistant Manager.
Since the wall is staffed around the clock, volunteers are needed and there are opportunities to donate to offset the cost of The Wall’s visit. Visit Shaler Township’s website to learn more.
