We are delighted to share that Katie Williams (11) and Andrew Purucker (11) have earned a prestigious place among the top instrumentalists in the state! These two talented students will represent Shaler Area at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Conference.
After months of preparation and dedication, Katie and Andrew both advanced to the PMEA Region Band, which took place this past weekend at Ambridge High School. On the first night of the event, they underwent a rigorous audition process—and we are proud to announce
that both of them advanced to the PMEA All-State Wind Ensemble! This achievement is the pinnacle of excellence in their musical journey.
The All-State Wind Ensemble will rehearse and perform at the Kalahari Convention Center in the Poconos during the PMEA All-State Conference, which will take place from April 9-12, 2025. The ensemble will be conducted by Dr. Tonya Mitchell-Spradlin, Director of Wind Band Studies at Pennsylvania State University.
Congratulations to Katie and Andrew on this remarkable accomplishment! Your dedication, hard work, and passion for your craft have truly paid off. We couldn’t be more proud to have both of you represent Shaler Area School District with such distinction!
