At their December 4th meeting, the Shaler Area School District Board of School Directors appointed a new Director of Finance and Operations. Jennifer Tressler will step into this pivotal leadership role for the district, assisting the school board and leaders of the district in forming and executing a cohesive financial strategy. Ms. Tressler brings together strong people skills, proven financial acumen, and strategic planning ability that will benefit the Shaler Area School District.
A Certified Public Accountant, Ms. Tressler has most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer and Board Treasurer for Duquesne City School District. During her time at Duquesne City School District, the district’s fund balance has grown by over $2 million, including the first positive net gains in 5 years. She previously worked for the Quaker Valley School District as Assistant Director of Finance, providing her with experience in multifaceted contexts.
Ms. Tressler is an accomplished financial manager, yet never loses sight of the positive education opportunities those numbers represent. She explains, “As a parent, I am a strong advocate for children and youth in public education. I am able to connect and offer perspectives to parents, teachers, and administrators. My current position facilities relationships with all levels of staff within the District and external partners, including vendors and community members.” She looks forward to leveraging her experience for Shaler Area. “The pride and tradition of serving this community is evident in everyone I have met on the administrative team and the school board. I am very excited to be joining this talented team and to continue to move and grow the district forward.” expressed Ms. Tressler. Her official start date with the district is slated for February 2, 2025.
Ms. Tressler will follow Ms Sherri Jaffee who has served Shaler Area in this role and will retire from the district later this year.
