Shaler Area Athletic Hall of Fame to Induct Honorees October 12th

The Shaler Area School District will induct 4 individuals and one team into the Shaler Area Athletic Hall of Fame. These athletes reflect the excellence and drive that Titans bring to competition and the caliber of excellence of the District, with athletes who have won WPIAL titles, local accolades, and even gone on to compete in the NFL.

The honorees will be introduced on Friday, October 11th, before the varsity football game at Titan Stadium. The induction ceremony will be held Saturday, October 12th, at Shaler Area High School.

Leah Herman, Volleyball (class of 2009)
* earned 4 varsity letters
*played on teams that won 3 section championships and had 4 top 5 WPIAL finishes
*twice named All Section, All WPIAL, and All PIAA
*holds SA record for aces per game and aces in a season
*won 3 MAC Championships at Ohio University

John Paul Holtz, Football and Basketball (class of 2012)
*earned 8 varsity letters and captained Titans to 3 consecutive appearances in WPIAL playoffs
*named All Conference Offense and All Conference Defense
*named one of WPIAL’s top players by Post-Gazette and Tribune Review
*4 year starter for the Pitt Panthers
* 7 year NFL career with Cleveland, Washington, Chicago, and New Orleans

Elizabeth Kline Reinheimer-Volleyball, Basketball, and Track (class of 2015)
*3 sport athlete with 9 varsity letters
*basketball team captain selected to play in 2015 Roundball Classic
*3 year volleyball team captain who led Titans to 2 section championships and its first final 4 finish in WPIAL playoffs
*continued playing volleyball at Connecticut

Jeff Tissue- Soccer (class of 1975)
*team captain for SA and team’s leading scorer
*twice named WPIAL All Star and selected to SA’s “50 at 50” Select Soccer Team
*played at Pitt and was team captain, leading scorer, and named All American
*won numerous titles as a youth soccer coach

1982 Varsity Softball
*compiled overall record of 25-3
*crowned WPIAL Champions after defeating Ambridge
*won three games in PIAA playoffs before losing in championship game
* PIAA Runners-Up
