Week 6 Wrap-Up: A Message to Our Shaler Area Families

September 27, 2024

Dear Shaler Area Families,

We have officially wrapped up Week 6 of the school year, and I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights and updates with you.

  • Student Success: We continue to see amazing accomplishments across the board. From academic achievements to extracurricular involvement, our students are showing their Titan pride. We are also proud of our students participating in our School-Wide Positive Behavior Program (SWPBIS), where they are recognized for demonstrating positive behaviors that align with our core values. Congratulations to all the students who have received recognition this week for their hard work and positive contributions to our school community!
  • Homecoming Week: This past Saturday, we celebrated our school spirit with a variety of Homecoming activities, including pep rallies, our parade, and the community picnic. We were thrilled to see so many families come out to support and cheer on our Titan Football Team! Thank you to all the families who attended these events and encouraged their children to participate in the school spirit celebrations. Your enthusiasm and involvement truly made this Homecoming week a special experience for all.
  • Coffee & Conversation: Join us Wednesday, October 2nd at Shaler Area Middle School from 7:30 AM-9:00 AM, for Coffee and Conversations. These casual mornings are an invitation to get better acquainted with the leadership of our district. All are welcome and no R.S.V.P. is required. More info: https://tinyurl.com/yjhvf75j
  • Transportation and Road Work Update: We have been informed by A. Liberoni, Inc. that road work on behalf of PennDOT will continue next week on Mt. Royal Blvd between Duncan Ave and William Flynn Highway. The work will begin at 9 AM each day and is weather dependent. Single-lane traffic restrictions will be in place during this time.
  • Planning Ahead: Please note that there will be no school on October 14 due to a scheduled teacher in-service day. This is a great opportunity to plan family activities or enjoy a long weekend together.
  • SchoolCafe  Reminder: As a reminder, we encourage families to check out SchoolCafe for account information, such as managing your child’s meal account, making payments, and viewing cafeteria purchases/menus. Through this portal, you may also apply for Free & Reduced Lunch.  Staying on top of your child’s account is a great way to ensure they have everything they need for the school day.
  • Vendor Fair Invitation: Join us for the 17th Annual Shaler Area Middle School Vendor & Craft Fair on September 28th, from 9 AM to 2 PM! Enjoy over 60+ crafters & vendors, free admission, refreshments, and raffles. This is a fantastic community event, and we’d love to see you there! Don’t miss out!

Lastly, I encourage you to continue following us on social media on Facebook, Twitter (@ShalerArea) and Instagram (@shalerareaschooldistrict) along with visiting our school website regularly at shalerarea.org to stay up to date with all the latest news, events, and important information.

We greatly appreciate the partnership between home and school as we work together to ensure a successful and engaging learning environment for all students. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to what the next few weeks will bring.

Warm regards,

Bryan E. O’Black, Ed.D
