Congratulations on a Successful Second Week

August 30, 2024

Dear Shaler Area Families,

As we wrap up our second week of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support and cooperation.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated transportation delays due to the ongoing work being conducted by PennDOT. We know that these disruptions can be challenging, and we are grateful for your flexibility as we work to ensure that all students arrive at school and return home safely. Please know that the District is working closely with Shaler Township Police to collaborate with the various contractors as needed. The projects occurring in and around our community are multifaceted and involve several different contractors and we are committed to minimizing any impact on our students and families. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Transportation Department at businfo@shalerarea.org or 412-492-1200 ext. 2824.

Additionally, I want to acknowledge the early dismissal this week due to record-setting temperatures. Your quick response and cooperation were greatly appreciated, and we thank you for helping us prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff during these extreme weather conditions.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 2, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We hope you enjoy this extended weekend with your families and have a restful and safe holiday.

As we continue into the school year, I encourage you to visit our newly revamped district website at shalerarea.org for the most up-to-date calendar of events occurring in the district. You’ll find important information and updates to keep you connected and engaged with all that’s happening in our schools.

I also encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for regular updates, news, and highlights from around the district. Your partnership and engagement are vital to the success of our students, and we look forward to staying connected with you throughout the year.

Together, we have successfully navigated the first few weeks of the school year, and I look forward to the exciting weeks ahead. Thank you once again for your ongoing support of the Shaler Area School District.

Warm regards,

Bryan E. O’Black, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
