Dear Shaler Area Families,
As we move further into the spring season, our schools are filled with a strong sense of momentum, pride, and accomplishment. Classrooms continue to be vibrant spaces of learning, while our students shine through performances, competitions, and service experiences that reflect the very best of the Shaler Area community. It is truly inspiring to see our students’ growth, creativity, and commitment on display each day.
In the weeks ahead, there will be many opportunities to celebrate the continued success of our students and staff. From academic achievements to the arts and athletics, our Titan community continues to demonstrate what it means to engage, empower, and excel.
Please note that the Shaler Area School District will observe Spring Break from March 30 through April 3, 2026. We hope this time provides our students, staff, and families with an opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy time together.

Burchfield Grammar at the Grammys
This week, students in Burchfield Primary School’s Grammar Club took the stage in their very own “Grammys” celebration—Burchfield Grammar at the Grammys! This creative event showcased students’ understanding of grammar concepts through music, performance, and fun. From catchy songs to impressive stage presence, our students brought grammar to life in a way only Burchfield can! A big thank-you to the staff and families who supported this joyful celebration of learning.
Shaler Area 1 of 6 schools in nation selected for Japanese Language Program
Shaler Area School District continues to expand global learning opportunities for students, as Shaler Area High School was recently selected as one of just six schools in the nation to participate in the prestigious Japanese Language Education Assistant Program (J-LEAP). This highly selective, two-year program places native Japanese-speaking educators in U.S. schools to strengthen language instruction and deepen cultural understanding. Through this opportunity, students at both the middle and high school levels are engaging directly with a native speaker, enhancing their language proficiency while gaining authentic cultural experiences. The program reflects Shaler Area’s commitment to innovative programming and preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world. Click here to read more.

Student Spotlight: Nicholas Rudolph
Congratulations to Shaler Area senior Nicholas Rudolph on earning the rank of Eagle Scout! For his project, Nicholas led the design and installation of new auditorium stage stairs at Shaler Area High School. As an active member of our music and drama programs, Nicholas recognized a need within our school community and took action to improve safety and functionality. These new stairs will benefit countless performers, musicians, stage crew members, and audiences for years to come. We are proud of his leadership, initiative, and lasting impact on our school community.
