On February 28th, the Shaler Area Elementary School Winter Guard officially debuted at the Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association (TRWEA) competition. This marks the first year of the elementary program, and it was a huge milestone for our students and the growth of performing arts in the district.
Our elementary students “competed” alongside other elementary programs from Norwin, Kiski, and Gateway. More importantly, they had the opportunity to experience the competitive Winter Guard environment, from warm-ups and performance protocols to being evaluated by judges. It was an incredibly positive and empowering experience for them, and they represented Shaler Area with pride.
Additionally, at the Norwin TRWEA competition, several of our secondary performance groups competed as well:
- High School Winter Guard
- Dance Team
- Drumline
- Majorettes
Our students across all groups continue to grow week by week, and the judges provided encouraging feedback about their progress and potential.
This weekend showcased the expanding scope of Shaler Area’s performance programs, from elementary through high school, and reflects the district’s commitment to creating meaningful, competitive, and confidence-building opportunities for students.
