Each year all the primary schools in Shaler Area collect cans for the Souper Bowl to coincide with the NFL Super Bowl. Not only did students bring in canned goods to help those in need, but they also used them to get healthy themselves. The cans are collected throughout all the primary schools and used for fitness exercises and routines in all of our Physical Education classes for 2–3 weeks. This teaches the kids that you can use anything for daily fitness to keep you healthy. Once the NFL Super Bowl is over, the Primary schools then send them to the local food pantry at the North Hills Community Outreach Center. These items are then distributed within our community as a way for our students to show kindness for those in our community in need. This year’s grand total was 906 cans donated! Students have been participating in this worthwhile event for over 20 years now as their way of giving back to the community at a young age.
