The District is pleased to share that several Shaler Area students were recently recognized for their outstanding performance at the A.W. Beattie Career Center SkillsUSA District 8 Competitions.
More than 20 students from career and technical programs across southwestern Pennsylvania participated in these highly competitive events, which assess students’ technical skills, professionalism, and career readiness. Shaler Area students distinguished themselves through strong preparation and performance.
The following students earned medal-winning honors:
Silver Medal (2nd Place)
- Zara Auld, Senior – Automotive Technology, Automotive Service Technology
- Keelie Calvin, Senior – Cosmetology, Nail Care
Bronze Medal (3rd Place)
- Mason Niggl, Sophomore – Carpentry Building Construction, Carpentry
These students demonstrated a high level of skill, dedication, and professionalism while competing against peers from multiple school districts and career centers in the region.
We commend Zara, Keelie, and Mason for representing Shaler Area School District with pride and excellence. We also extend our appreciation to the A.W. Beattie instructional staff and our district team for their continued support of high-quality career and technical education programming.
Their accomplishments reflect our commitment to preparing students for success in postsecondary education, skilled trades, and workforce pathways.
