In January, students from our district participated in the PMEA District 1 Chorus Festival, held at McKeesport High School. During the festival, students completed a rigorous audition process alongside some of the most talented singers in the district. I am proud to report that the following students were among the select few chosen to advance to the PMEA Region Chorus:
- Brandon Aryee
- Alexis Bankowski
- Elizabeth Dunlevy
- Sydney Gross
- Tyler Swartzendruber
- Abigail Tepshich
- Logan Tepshich
- Adam Zang
- Emily Bedeck – Accompanist
The PMEA Region Chorus Festival will take place February 19–21, 2026, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, hosted by Mohawk & Laurel High Schools. This prestigious event will be conducted by Patrick Hawes, an internationally renowned British composer whose works are widely performed and respected throughout the choral world.
Advancing to the Region level represents an exceptional honor and reflects our students’ dedication, musical excellence, and commitment to their craft. It is also a testament to the strength of our music program and the continued support of our school community.
Mrs. Kristin Tepshich, M.Ed, Shaler Area High School Director of Choirs, shared, “Please join me in congratulating these students on this remarkable accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and look forward to supporting them as they represent our school and district at the regional level.”
