Shaler Area High School student Duncan Simmons has successfully battled leukemia. When offered a life-changing experience from Make-A-Wish, Duncan didn’t select a Caribbean vacation or a bedroom makeover. He wanted to give back to children and teens still facing the challenges of treatment. Duncan partnered with Make-A-Wish and the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation to create Duncan’s Diner, which provides hospitalized pediatric oncology patients with meal delivery gift cards, empowering them to have choice to have familiar and enticing comfort foods during treatment.
