LeeAnn Guido Honored with 2025 School of Social Work Service Award

Shaler Area High School social worker LeeAnn Guido is being recognized for the significant positive contributions she’s made. Ms. Guido has been selected by the University of Pittsburgh to receive the 2025 School of Social Work Service Award. This award recognizes alumni who have provided exceptional service to the School of Social Work through teaching, training, and/or volunteer service. “This is an incredible honor and a testament to her dedication and excellence as an educator,” shared JoAnne Townsend, Interim Principal of Shaler Area High School.

Ms. Guido reflected,

“I am honored to have been nominated, let alone selected, to receive the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work 2025 Service Award!

I did not enter this field expecting any type of recognition. For me, a career in social work is not about immediate gratification—it is about the lasting impact on a student’s life made through relationships, resilience, and care. I come to work every day with a heart of service, passionate about advocating for students and creating safe, supportive spaces in which they are empowered to reach their full potential. I am also passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with a new generation of social workers as a Field Learning Supervisor through Pitt, preparing and empowering them to serve others as well.

I am thankful that this hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, for the space I am given to do this work with the students and staff at Shaler Area, and for the support I have always received.”

Guido and the other awardees were honored at an awards ceremony on November 13 at the University Center.
