Students from Shaler Area High School participated in Constitution Day at the civil courts hosted by The Allegheny County Courts in partnership with Edgar Snyder and Associates. The day began with a meet and greet with Judges and Court Staff. Students then had the opportunity to observe trials, motions or other hearings. The high school students spent the morning with Judge Regan who gave them the privilege of sitting in the jury box to observe and even participate in “Discovery Court.” Judge Regan spoke often this morning about our right as citizens to “establish justice”—words taken from the Preamble, and when he polled our students on several matters of litigation, they were excited to be treated as citizens and young adults. After a pizza lunch, students left with pocket US Constitutions.
