September 5, 2025
Dear Shaler Area Families,
As we close out the week, I want to take a moment to share five highlights that reflect the energy, pride, and commitment across our schools and community. Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we live out our vision to Engage, Empower, and Excel.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Our students inspire us with their leadership in action. Although Kenny Williams is not a senior class officer for student government, he has become the “unofficial sixth officer.” Over the summer, when the senior class officers were unavailable, he stepped in to ensure the senior window was painted and decorations were completed. He has also consistently served as a guide during every Freshman Orientation. Kenny is responsible, respectful, reliable, and approachable, and he models leadership for his peers. Thank you, Kenny, for your eagerness to collaborate and serve.
SAFETY UPDATE — OPENGATE WEAPONS DETECTION SYSTEM
As a reminder we are implementing our OpenGate Weapons Detection System at Titan Stadium entrances to ensure a safe environment for everyone attending. We ask for your cooperation and patience as we introduce this system. Click here to review our updated guidelines for entry into the Stadium.
We look forward to safe and spirited evenings under the lights as we cheer on our Titans! Thank you in advance for your support and understanding as we work together to keep our community safe.
VISITOR MANAGEMENT
As a reminder, all visitors entering our schools are required to check in through our Raptor Visitor Management System. Please be prepared to present a valid photo ID upon arrival. Once cleared, visitors will receive a printed badge to wear during their time in the building. This process is an important part of ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff.
If you wish to meet with a principal or counselor, we kindly ask that you call ahead to schedule an appointment. Doing so allows us to provide you with the time and attention you deserve while minimizing disruptions to the school day.
ATTEND TODAY, ACHIEVE TOMORROW
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Strong, consistent attendance directly translates to positive academic achievements for students. This month, I invite each of you to consider what obstacles might cause absences and plan ahead now so they won’t get in the way. We’ve prepared a list of helpful tips here. As always, our school counselors stand ready to assist if you would benefit from additional support.
