Dr. Bryan O’Black, Shaler Area School District Superintendent, has been elected to serve on the Governing Board of The School Superintendents Association (AASA). Dr. O’Black’s selection to serve in this elite group of educational leaders is a testament to his innovative leadership and tireless advocacy for education.
The School Superintendents Association is the premier association for school system leaders. A professional community of more than 10,000 educational leaders, AASA and its members are committed to providing high-quality public education to all students. AASA (formerly the American Association of School Administrators) develops and supports school system leaders through the national exchange of ideas; access to professional learning, publications, and resources; and opportunities to champion initiatives to help transform the future of public education.
The latest in a career of educational leadership roles, Dr. O’Black is one of only 135 members elected to serve on the governing board. His 2-year term, representing Pennsylvania, will begin July 1, 2025. Dr. O’Black has been an active member of the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools; AASA Learning 2025 Alliance; and serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Pittsburgh College in High School Program. He is currently the past-president of the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (PASCD).
