Recap and Reminders for Parents – January 10

January 10, 2025

Dear Shaler Area Families,

As we wrap up the week, I want to take a moment to share some important highlights and updates from the past several days.

First, I want to thank our families for their patience and understanding as we navigated the winter weather earlier this week. Your flexibility and support are greatly appreciated as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff during these situations.

Engagement at Coffee & Conversation and Strategic Planning Forum
This week, we were thrilled to host our Coffee & Conversation event and the second Strategic Planning Community Forum at Scott Primary School. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the parents, guardians, and community members who joined us. Your presence and participation reflect the strength of our Shaler Area community.

The Coffee & Conversation event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with families and discuss the district’s vision and ongoing initiatives. Following this, the Strategic Planning Community Forum brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions about workforce development, career readiness, and the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. We are grateful to our panelists from UPMC, A.W. Beattie Career Center, PNC Bank, and Penn State University for their valuable insights during the forum.

AW Beattie Career Center Students of the Month
I am excited to share that several Shaler Area students have been recognized as AW Beattie Career Center’s Students of the Month for November and December 2024. These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in their respective programs, and their hard work reflects positively on our district.

Please join me in congratulating these students on their accomplishments. Their success is a testament to the quality of education and the support they receive both at AW Beattie and within the Shaler Area School District.
