Dear Shaler Area Community,
As Thanksgiving draws near, it is a perfect time to reflect on the incredible sense of connection and purpose that defines the Shaler Area School District. Our schools are more than places of learning—they are the heart of our community, where students are nurtured, families are welcomed, and staff work tirelessly to inspire and empower future generations.
This season of gratitude reminds us to appreciate the moments of kindness, collaboration, and achievement that fill our schools and neighborhoods. Whether it’s celebrating a student’s success, a teacher’s innovation in the classroom, or the support of a family or community member, each act contributes to the positive impact we share. These moments remind us that our strength comes from our collective commitment to one another.
At Shaler Area, we have so much to be thankful for—our talented students who inspire us daily, our dedicated staff who work with passion and purpose, and our families and community members who generously give their time and support. Together, we make Shaler Area a place where opportunities flourish and success is earned. This unwavering dedication reflects the spirit of our mission: to Engage minds, Empower individuals, and Excel as a community.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I invite you to watch a short video message I’ve prepared to express my heartfelt gratitude for all that you do to make our district a special place. You can view this video by clicking here.
As you gather with loved ones this holiday, I hope you take time to reflect on the joy that comes from being part of a caring and supportive community. On behalf of the Shaler Area School District, thank you for being part of our journey and for your steadfast dedication to our schools and students.
A friendly reminder that we will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 27, and school will resume on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. May your Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, joy, and cherished moments with family and friends.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Bryan E. O’Black, Ed.D.
