Shaler Area High School student Ivy Wegner won honorable mention in the 10–12th grade band of the WPCTE (Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English) Flash Fiction Contest!

Wegner’s entry, “The Key,” was one of only five that earned this award in her grade band.

Students were asked to write a very short story (less than 500 words) that contains plot and developed characters. Wegner’s story was about a mysterious key to a drawer that held secrets.
