Earlier in the school year, Shaler Area High School sustainability classes and club took a “day of service” field trip to Millvale where they worked on Rainbow Raccoon park; decorated the Millvale Library for Halloween; and filled the food pantry in Millvale.
Students will collect for the food pantry again during their upcoming food and agriculture unit. SAHS teacher Ms. Nilson shares, “These students are amazing and truly understand that sustainability is not just about helping our planet, it is about caring for people too. They continually work to help their community, whether it be through helping to create a park, saving a green-space, or filling a food pantry.”
