As we move into February, I want to take a moment to highlight the exciting events, student achievements, and important updates happening across our district. From academic and artistic accomplishments to key initiatives that support our families and students, there is much to celebrate. Kindergarten Registration is Now Open
If your child is turning 5 years old on or before August 31, 2025, it’s time to register for kindergarten! Online registration is open at bit.ly/SASDregister, and in-person events will be held at primary schools and the district office. For more information, call 412-492-1200 ext. 8-2813.
Upcoming Early Intervention Transition Night – February 10
The district will host Early Intervention Transition Night on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Middle School Library. This event is designed to support families as their children transition from early intervention services to school-age programming in the district.
SAHS Open House & College to Career Night – February 27
Join us at Shaler Area High School on Thursday, February 27, from 6:00-8:30 PM for an opportunity to explore academic programs, meet faculty, and learn about post-secondary options from colleges, trade schools, and workforce organizations.
Tickets Now on Sale for SAHS Spring Musical – Guys & Dolls
Tickets are available for Shaler Area High School’s production of Guys & Dolls, with performances on February 21-23, 28, and March 1. Purchase tickets online at https://cur8.com/18303/project/129182 or at the High School Activities Office (Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM). Ticketing kiosks will also be available one hour before each show.
A FREE senior citizens (65+) dress rehearsal will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 5 PM. No tickets or RSVP needed—doors open at 4:30 PM, with light refreshments served at intermission.
KDQuiz Champions
Congratulations to Nick Mulkerin, Abby Maher, and Emily Bedeck, who won last week’s episode of KDQuiz! It was a challenging match against strong competition, making their victory even more impressive. Tune in to KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh next Saturday, 2/8, at 11:30 AM for a replay.
Shaler Area Students of the Month at A.W. Beattie

Save the Date – A Taste of Shaler Area
Join us for A Taste of Shaler Area, hosted by the Shaler Area Education Foundation, on Saturday, April 5, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Scott Primary School. This event brings together delicious food and community spirit, with proceeds benefiting Shaler Area students.

143 Day T-Shirt Contest – “Kindness Grows Here”
Students are invited to participate in the 143 Day T-Shirt Contest! Submissions are due by February 28 to art teachers. Designs must be 8.5” x 10”, black and white only. Contact Monica C. McElwain at mcelwainm@shalerarea.org with questions.
