Members of the Shaler Area community are warmly invited to join us for the second Strategic Planning Community Forum, which will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Scott Primary School. This forum “Workforce on the Rise” will feature a dynamic panel discussion on workforce development skills, bringing together leaders from various industries to explore how we can better prepare our students for future careers. We are thrilled to confirm the participation of representatives from UPMC, A.W. Beattie Career Center, PNC Bank, workforce development organizations, and higher education institutions. The panel will delve into key topics, including:
- Workforce trends and emerging skills such as creative thinking, technological literacy, and resilience.
- The role of schools in addressing skill gaps and fostering lifelong learning.
- Opportunities for collaboration between schools, businesses, and the community to enhance career readiness.
Additionally, we will review data collected from our community, staff, and student surveys and begin to solidify the key focus areas for our Strategic Plan through 2025–2030.
Our work is rooted in the Portrait of a Graduate framework, outlining the essential skills and dispositions we strive to cultivate in every student. Learn more about this initiative here.
This forum is a great opportunity for community stakeholders to engage, share perspectives, and shape the district’s future. Your presence underscores our collective commitment to aligning strategic goals with workforce and community needs.
The forum will be preceded by Coffee and Conversations, an opportunity to get to know leaders of the district in a casual setting. Come for Coffee and conversations from 6–7:00 p.m. and stay for the community forum. We hope to see you there!
