Students’ artistic ambitions rose as they constructed their own balloon floats for a Primary School Thanksgiving Parade. Marzolf students learned about the Macy’s Day parade and its balloons in the story Balloons over Broadway. In the library, the students rolled up their sleeves and unleashed their imaginations, creating balloons based off of a character in a book. They were able to use the books in the library to assist in their character’s creation. In Art, the students were able to select how to draw to create a balloon of their choice to float in front of their city skyline. In first grade, they were able to select a design for their balloon.
In the final days before Thanksgiving break, students paraded through the halls, sharing their creations and the spirit of the holidays.
