Celebrating Our Achievements and Inviting You to Homecoming Festivities

September 20, 2024

Dear Shaler Area families,

As we wrap up another fantastic week, I want to take a moment to reflect on all the amazing things happening in our district and share some exciting news about our upcoming Homecoming celebrations!

Over the past five weeks, our students have been showcasing their talents, creativity, and dedication, while our teachers and staff have been tirelessly working to foster an environment of growth and achievement. It has been inspiring to see the enthusiasm in our classrooms, the collaboration among our staff, and the strong sense of community that unites us all.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role has been the opportunity to meet with our incredible students and learn more about their experiences in our schools. Hearing first hand about their passions, challenges, and aspirations reminds me daily of why we are all here – to support and uplift our students in every way possible. Their insights, creativity, and perspectives continue to shape our efforts to create an enriching and inclusive environment for all.

Transportation and Road Work Update: We have been informed by A. Liberoni, Inc. that the work being conducted on behalf of PennDOT will resume this coming week on Mt. Royal Blvd. Work will be weather dependent and single-lane traffic restrictions will be in effect on Mt. Royal Blvd from 9am to 3pm on weekdays. Flaggers and Shaler Township Police  will be on hand to direct traffic.

I am thrilled to invite you to join us for this year’s Homecoming festivities, where we will celebrate our Titan pride with a day full of events and activities for all ages. The tradition of homecoming is a special one in the Shaler Area community and we hope you’ll consider it an opportunity to bring generations together and form some new traditions of your own in doing so.

Homecoming Events:

  • Homecoming Parade: See the creativity of our students and the enthusiasm of our community in the Homecoming Parade, kicking off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 21st, 2024. The parade will process down Mt. Royal Boulevard, starting at St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Campus, and concluding at the Central Office.
  • Community Picnic: Immediately following the parade, join us for a picnic on the front lawn of the Central Office and Middle School starting at noon. Titans past and present will enjoy a variety of fun activities, including food booths operated by SASD boosters, inflatables, pony rides, Shaler Area clothing sales, and more!
  • Football Game: The day will culminate with our Homecoming football game against Woodland Hills at 1:30 p.m. at Titan Stadium. Come cheer on our team as they showcase their hard work and dedication on the field!

Parking Information: Parking will be available at Kiwanis Park, with shuttle buses running continuously beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at the conclusion of the football game. A limited number of handicap spots are available in the upper stadium lot near the south entrance for patrons with a state-issued tag. All other stadium parking is by permit only.

We hope you will join us for this special day to celebrate the spirit, pride, and unity of the Shaler Area community. Your presence will make our Homecoming festivities even more memorable!
