Brian Brown Named Assistant Superintendent

At their June 12th meeting, the School Board has appointed Mr. Brian Brown the Assistant Superintendent of the Shaler Area School District.

“Mr. Brown has demonstrated exceptional expertise, leadership skills, and a forward-thinking approach to educational administration,” shared Dr. Bryan O’Black, incoming Superintendent of Schools, “His extensive experience in technology integration, security, systems leadership, instructional design, and innovative educational practices makes him a great fit for Shaler Area. I am confident that he will develop long-lasting relationships with our students, staff, and community all to ensure that our mission and vision is being articulated through our programs.”

Mr. Brown’s professional journey is marked by a steadfast dedication to student-centered education, drawing from his extensive experience as both a teacher and principal. Throughout his various administrative roles, he has been committed to utilizing technology to advance academic achievement. By ensuring that schools have access to the latest innovative tools, he empowers students to not only learn but also to excel and explore new horizons. His commitment to advancing academic programs underscores his vision of creating vibrant learning environments where every student can thrive and succeed.

Coming to Shaler Area from the Penn Hills School District, Mr. Brown served as the Assistant to the Superintendent for Technology; Innovation, Safety and Security and Director of Technology and Innovation; and Associate Principal. He has also worked as a Principal for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, where he implemented a celebrated PBIS system.

Members of the community will be invited to meet Mr. Brown during Coffee & Conversation events planned for the early weeks of the 2024–2025 school year. Details and schedule for these school-based events will be shared in August.
